Which fruit trees are best for my area?

Tree selection (and good drainage) is where home fruit growing success begins. A good home fruit growing experience is much more likely if you plant with your climate and planting site, not against.

Fruit variety selection can be overwhelming; there is no end to the information and opinions. Keep it simple. Whether you are considering one or two trees, 10-12 trees or more, start with the best-adapted fruit types and varieties proven for your area and/or with the fruit types and varieties that most inspire you. Some of each is a typical compromise.

There are many tools for selecting fruit trees on the DWN website. A good place to start is the page Selecting Varieties and Rootstocks.
