This annual event is the largest gathering for pistachio growers and industry leaders, drawing attendees from across the U.S. It’s three power-packed days of networking, education and …
In those parts of the southwestern U.S. where extreme heat is forecast for the week of June 14, now is the time to thoroughly irrigate fruit trees, landscapes and gardens. Apply a deep, thorough irrigation before the heat kicks in. This is also a good time to put down a thick layer of mulch and apply whitewash to exposed tree trunk and branch structure.
Early to mid-summer extreme heat events can cause severe damage to plants and trees, possibly leading to failure. Many areas of the Southwest including inland California are expecting temperatures of well over 100 degrees, and the southwestern deserts are expected to be in the 110 to 120 range. This will last at least 5 days, if not more. Even with a deep irrigation beforehand, some fruit drop can be expected.
Please follow all water advisories and restrictions in your area.
